Hi,
I'm starting researching getting my bike converted to a trike.
It's a Kawasaki EN500 bought new in '89 and and has less than 1K miles on the clock - stored for 18 years - brought out of retirement last year and it obviously sailed through its MOT. Now needs the carbs looking at as I can get it to start, but then it dies on me!
Being short of stature and getting on in years, the bike is a bit of a handful for me in solo trim. Although it's in near 'as bought' condition, I think I'd only get pennies for it hence the conversion route.
Want it so I can ride the bike out to our holiday home in Crete - car journey is too boring and getting expensive!
Oh, I've been riding bikes continuously from '62 - 93 and a few miles last year! Been through the gamut of british bikes - mainly AMCs with a Vinnie, BSA, Royal Enfield, bonneville engined Triton and a Kawasaki 350 triple thrown in for good measure!
regards
David

Ok twistgrips, firstly I am presuming it's the EN500 shaft drive.
Secondly too many people go down the long road of trike conversion only to find they don't like or can't ride them, especially after being a bike rider for many years. The question is are you sure your ready to be a triker?
I await your reply to these 2 questions.

Thanks for the welcome folks
Just to clarify a point - the EN500 is a belt driven bike, although being based on the GPZ500, it shouldn't be difficult to change it over to a chain driven version.

Am I ready for a trike? well seeing as I don't fancy dropping the kwackers ( I did it once and ended up on crutches for 6 weeks!)and don't want a sidecar outfit, my only recourse to keep on biking is a trike/

I'd be looking at farming the conversion out as I haven't the means to do it myself.
Actually the wife is now searching the web for a s/h trike that would fit our budget!
Cheers
David

Hello and welcome. Triking is great fun and you get to meet some great people particularly the ones in Yorkshire Trikers (although some are a little bonkers and some are completely bonkers, but I think they are fairly harmless). If you get someone to build the trike for you, make sure they have been recommended. There are far too many cowboys out there ready to take your money for a crap build.
Ride safe.
