any advice on either would be greatly appreciated.
i.e. does the half shaft need welding proffesionally?
will mini or metro discs fit with a bracket made to hold the calliper.
really not sure were to start.

hi basher never shortend a reliant axel but i know they have 3 rivets on the inner end so dont think theres any welding on tubes as the diff is ally and the tubes are metal. as for disc brakes you need mk2 golf rear calipers and vauxhall nova discs. loads on ebay i looked other day. as for mounting brackets for calipers thers a guy selling them on ebay for £10+£4.00p+p item no150450044832 hope this helps kev

As for shafts I have seen the two cut ends but together with a tight sleeve over the 2 ends then welded and I have seen another with a section cut out of the middle and the ends cut off the other then welded together. If I can find a contact for you I will.

As far as the calipers for that kit go, there are quite a few that will fit depending on pocket depth.
How about Audi A6 6-pots?
Apparently you need to be on wheels 15" or larger to allow space for the calipers.

Guys,
If you check out on the web "Manky Monkey Motors" who are a bunch of guys and gals down here in the south (Basingstoke Area) they have some good info on trikes and an article on Reliant rear disk conversions conplete with a scale plan of the bracket required.
Happy hunting,
Razor.

please dont braze them as your looking for trouble in the future weld them. brazing is for the odd repair on exsaust not a drive shaft. please dont go down that road as you will be very uppset when it lets you down. iff you dont have a welder i will lend you one to do the job. if not bring them over and i will weld it for you

hi basher glad the info helped.not sure about disc thickness as i said never done one.have a look at the site razar put on. them brackets are fron the monkey design. going back to the shafts i would butt grined the shaft ends after putting a sleeve on tack them make sure sleeve slindes on and off pull sleeve back weld shafts then slide sleeve over and weld that if you have a dti gauge us that to make sure the shaft is rinnig true. then slide your sleeve over and weld job should be done. speek soon kev
