is there a conversion kit to take a bike from chain to prop shaft? the reason i ask is im going to build a trike and if i cant find a prop shaft driven bike for the right price i would need to use a chain 1 and convert it if its possible?

There are some out there usually pretty pricey and not easy to fit.
Myself I would still go down the shaft drive route but if you really want to look for something like this, I am not sure what they call them now but I think it's called a bevel box

cheers bobyt. im a mechanic and my knowledge of bikes is prety good so fitting 1 shouldnt be a problem. my last trike was a yam xs 850 but a mate built it. idealy i would like the same bike or a shaft driven 1 around the same engine size just struggling to find 1 in my price range of about 300 quid wich is why i was thinking chain to shaft conversion

hi scotty what type of doner bike do you need that is iff you are building a bike trike. i like my vw trikes and have built quite a lot of them in the past. at the moment i am doing a cx 500 honda which as allready been converted for my mate but i allso have a cx bike aswell which is shaft drive iff you are interested plus you can copy the rear end trike convertion iff you want mite save you a lot of time give me a ring on 01405764479 after 5 15 on work days or mob07598983872 cheers kev

chain to shaft can be done by using a middle gearbox from i think its an xs1100. i will take a pic of one i have ready for cbr 1000 trike build and post on here asap for you.

you aint gonna find much of a bike for 300quid mate,and if you do its gonna need money spending on it.
if its of any use im going to view an 1100 virago tonite.its a bit more than 300 tho,but an ideal trike project,tell you more when ive seen it, regards CP.

alright chorley paul, webbo has found me a cx500 for a very reasonable price just waiting to see if the owner can find the v5 and i will be getting it if not then i may have a gs850 for less then 200 quid. cheers any way cp
